Last year Motorola created a storm in the smart phone industry with its flagship device the Moto X. So the hype for its successor is expected. It has been codenamed as Motorola XT1097 and it is popularly known as the Moto X+1. So what all can we expect in the new handset? Here is a rundown of major changes in the successor of the Moto X.
It has been rumoured that new Moto X+1 would flaunt a gigantic screen which can be anywhere between 4.7 inches to 5.2 inches. If the screen size is this large, it is almost a surety that the Moto X+1 would have a 1920×1080 pixel, Full HD Screen. This is especially for all those who were disappointed with the mere HD screen of the Moto X will be ecstatic to see a bigger and a better screen on the Moto X+1.
Many users of the Moto X said that the processor provided with the smart phone was way better for its price. Continuing this trend the Moto X+1 is expected to have a much stronger processor. Rumours suggest that the Moto X2 will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. This is a quad-core processor and it is major shift from the dual core 1.7 GHz processor of the Moto X. So as far as the processor is concerned the Moto X+1 would be competing with high end smartphones like the LG G3 and the new HTC one.
Many tech reviewers complained that the camera of the Moto X was its single largest drawback. Even thought it had a 10 megapixel lens, the photos were not impressive. But it looks like Motorola wants to correct this in its latest smartphone. The Moto x+1 is expected to boast a powerful 13 MP camera. But more importantly it may have a stunning 5 megapixel front facing camera. Let’s face it everyone likes to take selfies these days, and with a powerful front camera, the Moto x+1 might attract a much wider audience.
The design of Moto X was appreciated by everyone. However one thing that made it unique was the 18 different customizations that were offered by Motorola. The Motorola would continue the trend, keeping favourites like wood and Walnut back panels. Also the Moto X+1 would give a leather option to its users. Many users appreciated the faux leather back of Samsung Galaxy S4 and it would be awesome to see if Moto X+1 flaunt “real leather” on its back.
The Missing Feature
One of the biggest talking points of the Moto X was the dedicated processor for voice recognition. This allowed you to operate your phone without even touching it. However it seems that Motorola is more interested in winning the specs war. So the Moto x+1 might not have the dedicated processor to understand voice commands. This is just a rumour but with specs that are surfacing up, it is unlikely that a dedicated voice recognition processor would be added.
On the contrary, many believe that Motorola will not do away with a feature that can generate sales on its own. So the tech community is keeping its fingers crossed as of now.
The Moto X was a mid-range smartphone with high-end specs. But the Moto x+1 is likely to have top of the line specs, that compete with the flagship devices of the year. So it is expected that there might be small rise in the price of the Moto x+1. However it would not be substantial. Also if the Moto X2 features a dedicated voice recognition core, then the price might go up.
However, if Motorola launches the X+1 with same price as the Moto X, then it would easily be the best smartphone for the year 2014.
The Release Date
The release date for this phone has not yet been confirmed by Motorola, but many leaks suggest that it might be released on September 10, 2014. Motorola is expected to hold a major event and the successor for the extremely successful Moto G, might also be revealed. Also the release of the Moto 360 smartwatch is pending for a long time now and we might see its release too.
All in all the next Motorola event would be hit not only because of the big releases but also to see what changes has Lenovo brought to this company.
