Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 to compete with Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8

Micromax is riding high on its success. After launching several devices in the feature phones segment with great battery life and features, it’s giving tough competition to Samsung, HTC, etc. with its Android smartphones. Over the past one year, it has launched several models under Canvas series, each offering superb configuration at around half or even one-third the price from global brands. But, it’s not satisfied with this only and it has started projecting itself as a Premium brand. Its Canvas 4 was one of the first Indian smartphone priced above Rs. 15000 and thus directly competing with Samsung Galaxy Grand, Sony Xperia SP, etc.

Now, the company has shifted its focus towards phablets which it first launched under Canvas Doodle A111 name. The device was launched to take on the Samsung’s hugely popular Galaxy Note series. With its successor, Micromax is not only gunning for Note series but recently launched Mega series as well. According to several sources, the device will be dubbed as Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 A240.

There is no official information about the device, but Micromax is teasing about it on its social networks. This suggests that it may be launched very soon.

According to our sources, the device will have following specifications:

  • 5.7 inch display with 720 p display (1280 x 720 pixels), pixel density of 258 ppi
  • 1.2 GHz Mediatek MT 6589 quad-core processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 16 GB internal storage; support for MicroSD card
  • 12 MP primary camera
  • 5 MP secondary camera
  • Android 4.2.2 with Micromax customizations

The design would be similar to the Canvas 4 with a metallic chassis, though this might make it a bit heavier around 200g weight. Known leakster, MMXnewscaster have also leaked some images of the device.

The phone is expected to be priced at around Rs. 18000, thus giving a run for the money to Galaxy Mega 5.8, which is available at around Rs. 22000. Rumors hint that the configuration of the Canvas Doodle 2 is also much better than the Mega 5.8. We expect the device to be launched soon and available for purchase by the next month of September.
