Indian manufacturers are literally taking the smartphone wars against global manufacturers to the next level. First it was quad core processors which was a rare sight till last year and only available on high end devices from Samsung, HTC, etc., can now be seen on almost every smartphone from Indian brands. This time its octa-core processor which came on Samsung’s flagship devices Galaxy S4 and Note 3. All this has been possible due to the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek which offers cheaper processors as compared to Qualcomm and Samsung.
Indian manufacturer Intex will be the first smartphone in India to be powered by an octa-core processor from MediaTek. Although, the device is yet to be officially released and its name is also yet to be disclosed. Company has hinted at most of the specifications of the device.
Unlike Samsung’s processor which was a combination of two quad core processor (Cortex A7 and Cortex A15), Mediatek will have 8 cores of Cortex A7. Only one of the two Samsung’s processor work during any task, which means there is not much difference in terms of performance due to 8 cores. But, MT6592 will be running all 8 cores simultaneously ensuring good performance for the optimized apps.
