Following the footsteps of Tata Motors, leading Korean manufacturer, Hyundai has introduced its new car dubbed as Xcent. The car marks manufacturer’s entry in to the compact sedan segment of sub 4-metre car, which has seen a lot of launches since past time. Even for the Auto Expo of this year, this is the third car after the Tata Zest and Ford’s concept sedan based on Figo. The Xcent is based on the grand i10 hatchback launched by Hyundai last year. Another fact worth noting is that the name is remarkably similar to the Accent sedan, which was phased off from the market last year.
Key features of the Hyundai Xcent
As mentioned before, the Hyundai Xcent is largely based on the grand i10 resulting in same look at the front with the addition of boot space at the back. However, the boot space doesn’t looks odd and gives the car a nice look thanks to the company’s fluidic design philosophy.
The Xcent has a dual tone colour scheme of beige and black for the interiors. It also gets useful features like rear AC vents, smart key push button for opening and starting the car, auto folding electric mirrors, cooled glovebox, steering mounted controls and much more.
The car is no less in the entertainment space too with the inclusion of 2-DIN audio system with USB support and 1GB memory. The car also supports Bluetooth telephony with the compatible mobile device.
The diesel version of the car offers 1.1 litre engine, whereas the petrol version has a 1.2 litre Kappa engine. The diesel engine cranks out 70 bhp of power and 60Nm torque, and the petrol engine produces 82bhp power and 114Nm torque.
Both the engines have five speed manual transmission, but the petrol engine is also available with four speed automatic gearbox.
The car engine options are same as of the grand i10, which means that it will be available in diesel and petrol variants.
Based on the selected features, the car will be available in different price bands with the high-end variant being called Asta and offering ABS, dual airbags and rear parking assistant.
Pricing and Availability information of the Hyundai Xcent
Though, the company has not detailed the pricing of the Hyundai Xcent, it will be going on sale very soon in the next month of March itself.
The car will be up against the extremely popular Maruti Swift Dzire and recent entrant in the category- Honda Amaze.
