Records are meant to be broken.
The saying goes for popular sports, where we see sports-persons and teams breaking each other’s records. But now it seems to trickle down to the smartphone industry as well. Last year saw a number of devices vying for the tag of “world’s slimmest smartphone”, especially the devices from Chinese manufacturers. Huawei turned everyone’s heads with its slim Android phone, the Ascend P6 having the thickness of 6.18mm. However its record was short-lived by lesser known company, Vivo with the Xplay 3S having thickness of just 5.75mm.
Now both of these devices are trumped by the latest device from another Chinese brand, Gionee which gets its name from its thickness only. What’s nice about the smartphone is that company hasn’t compromised on its specifications and made the device as powerful as a flagship.
